KARAK: A woman and her son were killed while four other members of the same family suffered injuries in a road accident in Khurram area here on Sunday.
Police said that a Bannubound car fell into a deep ravine near Jala Banda on Kohat-Bannu road and all the six members of a family, who belonged to Bannu district, sustained injuries.
They were taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Banda Daud Shah, by the local people. However, a woman and her child whose names could not be ascertained succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
Doctors at the hospital said that the four injured had been referred to a hospital in Peshawar in critical condition.
C O N T A M I N A T E D WATER: The Islahi Committee of Guddikhel union council has claimed that water in the area is unfit for human consumption and demanded of the government to provide thelocal people with drinking water.
The committee chairman, Aziz Khan, and its members told media persons here on Sunday that the underground reservoirs in the area contained chemical particles which were causing diseases among people.
They said that they had tested water sample from their areain alaboratoryin Peshawar in private capacity and the test had proved that the water was contaminated.
They demanded of the government to order test of the water by its relevant department and ensure provision of drinking water to the residents.
Meanwhile, district cabinet of the Insaf Students Federation, Karak district, was dissolved by ISF provincial president Shahid Khattak and a five-member committee was formed for the membership drive.
This was announced by MrKhattakhere on Sunday.
He said that the new cabinet would be formed after completion of the membership drive.
