Monsoon and DHA

2020-07-10
IN the midst of the rainf all season, it is traumatising to witness trenches being dug up on roads literally almost everywhere in Defence Housing Authority.

I stopped my car and asked the crew why they were digging up the road. I was totally unprepared for the answer: the DHA had initiated the work for underground wire embedding! The question that immediately arose in my mind: was this the best time to engage in this activity? One f ails to understand the purpose ofwasting scant funds and getting labour to dig roads to lay underground wiring when the priority for DHA should be to clean the rain water drains. These drains are a disaster for vehicles have been neglected forlong.

In many areas the drains surface is cracked and broken. The drain slabs in many places have been missing for ages and the DHA has not bothered to replace them.

DHA authorities need to resolve this issue and stop diggingroadsin the monsoon season.
