LAKKI MARWAT: A woman was killed and three others, including two children, were injured in a quadcopter strike in the Sra Bangla area of Bannu district on Wednesday, the police said.
A police official said the quadcopter attack occurred in the area limits of Havaid police station. He claimed that terrorists dropped munitions on a house in the rural locality using a quadcopter.
`The attack left a woman dead and three persons, including two children, injured,` he said, adding the body and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu.
The official said that in another quadcopter strike, terrorists attacked the building of a police station in the Miryan area. `It was the fourth quadcopter attack on the same police station during the last one month and luckily, all policemen deployed there remained safe, he said.
The official said that the attack carried out by terrorists damaged the rooftop solar power system in the police station. He said that though the unmanned drone was not visible due to bad weather conditions the cops deployed at the police station fired in the air to prevent any other strike.
After the attacks, a large police contingent reached the rural area and launched a search for the terrorists. Separately, two terrorists were killed and as many injured in an intelligence-based operation in the forested area near Kaichi Kamar in Lakki Marwat district.
Official sources said that the security forces launched the operation when they received credible information about the presence of Fitna-al-Khawarij in the transriver belt.
They said that the terrorists operated from their safe havens located in the forests along the riverbanks.
`The security forces precisely hit their hideout, eliminating two terrorists and injuring two others,` they said.
Though Inter Services Public Relations, the Pakistan Army`s media wing, has not issued a statement about the operation so far, sources claimed that the successful strike highlighted the security forces` strong and continued resolve to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and ensure peace in the region.
