LAHORE: Electricity workers staged a rally on Wednesday under the aegis of the All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union to pay a tribute to the struggle of the Quaid-i-Azam and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the nation.

The workers, carrying national flags and banners, raised slogans for the prosperity of Pakistan and unity of workers.

Addressing the workers, union secretary general Khurshid Ahmad urged all political parties to establish a society based upon equality, fraternity and social justice.

He demanded the government to follow in the footsteps of the father of the nation and provide basic needs of life to the people.

Through a resolution, the workers demanded that high prices of basic needs, including electricity, petrol, sugar, flour and gas, should be reduced.
