Women harassment

2022-09-10
MORE than a year has passed since the shameful Minar-i-Pakistan incident took place, but nothing, literally nothing, has changed one bit.

On Pakistan`s 76th Independence Day, three foreigners, including two women and a man, were harassed by a mob at the Pakistan Monument in Shakarparian. The disturbing video doing the rounds on social media showed how frightened and terrified those modestly-dressed women were.

When will this sexual harassment stop? When will we learn to act like civilisedcitizens, or at least as human beings? Are not we, as Muslims, supposed to be the role models for the others? The irony is that those harassers, and others of their ilk, would be delivering sermons to their wives, daughters and mothers at home, and lecturing them about how immodest the West is.

Incidents like these underscore the reason why Pakistan is rated the sixth most dangerous country for women. What a shame.
