KARACHI: A large number of diseases prevalent among those living in the villages around the city were caused due to the non-availability of clean drinking water, said deputy mayor Arshad Vohra on Sunday.
Speaking at Gadap Town`s Union Council No 4 after inaugurating a water filtration plant, sponsored by and set up with the assistance of a philanthropist organisation, the deputy mayor said that providing clean drinking water to the poor villagers was among the responsibilities of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation which it had not been able to provide.
He lauded the sponsors for extending assistance in this endeavour.
