Two held for extracting oil from animal remams

TAXILA: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has busted a gang involved in extracting oil from remains and bones of animals, and recovered 170 maunds of bones in Hassanabdal.

According to PFA sources, the gang was running their business in a godown of a goods forwarding agency in village Jalala of Hassanabdal.

The illegal business was unearthed when a team of the authority chased a bones laden vehicle and reached the `factory`.

The extracted oil was blended in the pure cooking oil and supplied to the market.

The nabbed culprits used to collect bones and remains of animals from Rawalpindi, Attock, Taxila and surrounding areas and would transport them to the `factory`.

Two accused were handed over to Hassanabdal police for further legal action.

Separately, the Taxila police have claimed to have busted a two-member gang of motorcycle thieves and recovered six stolen bikes from them.
