LA HORE: A thesis exhibition by fine arts department of the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) opened at Alhamra Art Gallery, The Mall, on Monday.
The event was jointly inaugurated by veteran poet Amjad Islam Amjad and Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Atta Muhammad Khan.
Some 60 or so artworks by nine artists featured social subjects such as frailty of women, women empowerment, life of transgender persons and attitudes of people towardslife.
Commenting on the exhibition, Alhamra Art Gallery Assistant Director and curator, Mina Haroon, said: `I really liked the use of dif ferent mediums in miniature technique; the use of colours reflects the traditional miniature style and takes it forward towards contemporary concerns giving a unique blend in the works of all artists.
The artists who displayed their works are: Fatima Tariq, Saira Irshad, Ayesha Azeem, Zarmen Naz, Zeast Tabassum, Saira Khan, Arjumand, Aqadas Ali and Anna Arif Raja.
Amjad Islam Amjad said artists had tried to portray different aspects of life and they depicted not only women issues very well but social scene of the prevalent society as well.
The exhibition will continue till Oct 12.
