ISLAMABAD: The management of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Tuesday shuffled three officers including the registrar.
According to an office order issued on Tuesday, President PMDC retired Justice Shakirullah Jan transferred the acting PMDC registrar Dr Mohammad Waseem Hashmi (SPS-12) and posted as Secretary PMDC and appointed assistant registrar Dr Sitara Hassan (SPS-9) as acting registrar PMDC.
Moreover, Director Administration Arshad Nawaz (SPS-10/11) was relieved from additional charge of acting secretary.
On Jan 12, the PMDC Council was dissolved by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a nine-member ad-hoc committee headed by Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan (former judge of Supreme Court) was constituted to run the affairs of the council.
However, the apex court had directed that the registrar PMDC Dr Wasim Hashmi to continue working.
An official of the council, requesting not to be named, said the decision had surprised many in the council as Mr Hashmi, who is in Special Pay Scale (SPS) 12, equivalent to BPS 20, was removed and a junior officer Dr Sitara was appointed as acting registrar.
`Moreover, Section-IX of the PMDC Rules says only Council can appoint the registrar rather than president of council,` he said.
