LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 9: The local chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has demanded of the government to provide natural gas and other basic amenities in parts of Lakki Marwat city.

The demand was made by PTI office-bearers and activists during a meeting held here on Saturday with its district general secretary Ahmad Nawaz in the chair.

The participants discussed problems being faced by the residents of urban area and decided to contact their leaders in the provincial government for their early solution.

They said that local politicians in the previous government did not pay heed to resolving their problems. They held the local Khans and traditional politicians responsible for the backwardness of district, especially Lakki city.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Nawaz said that several parts of the urban locality were ignored and not provided gas connections in the past. He said that Ghafoorabad (Zargran), Bilal Town and Graban (Umarabad) localities still lacked natural gas facility.

He said that the residents had repeatedly contacted parliamentarians and requested the SNGPL authorities, but to no avail.

JUI-S RALLY: Activists of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) took out a rally in Serai Gambila the other day to record their protest against the US drone attacks in Federally administered Tribal Areas.

JUI-S deputy chief Maulana Hidayatullah Chishti led the rally, which passed through the city`s bazaars.

Advocate Sadullah Khan and other elders also participated in the rally.

On the occasion, Maulana Hidayatullah and others said that drone strikes were a clear violation of the country`s sovereignty by the US. He said that innocent tribal women and children were also killed in such attacks.

They asked the government to review its relations with the US and block Nato supplies.

They said that the recent drone strike in North Waziristan Agency had sabotaged the government`s peace efforts.
