Bid to block gas supply to Timergara protested

TIMERGARA, Nov 9: Scores of activists of Awami National Party on Saturday took out a rally against Provincial Labour and Industries Minister Bakht Baidar Khan over his alleged bid to block gas supply to Timergara and other parts of the district.
Holding banners and placards inscribed with calls for gas supply to Timergara, the protesters gathered in front of Timergara Press Club and shouted slogans against the minister and his party, Qaumi Watan Party.
Noted among them were former ANP district general secretary Ayub Khan, who is brother of Senator Zahid Khan, vice president Malik Iftikhar, former UC nazim Mohammad Ibrahim, former provincial minister Mahmood Zeb Khan and Anjuman Tajaran Timergara president Haji_ Anwaruddin.
They alleged that minister Bakht Baidar wanted to block gas supply to different parts of the district, Timergara.
The ANP activists said the last government had approved the Rs1.5 billion gas supply project for Dir.
They said they were not opposed to gas supply to Adenzai, the hometown of the minister, but that should happen by sabotaging the gas supply project for the district.
The protesters later threatened to block TimergaraPeshawar Road with the support of thousands of residents on the matter.
Also in the day, residents of Adenzai and Anjuman Tajaran Chakdara also announced to uproot gas pipelines laid if villages in Adenzai were not provided with gas.
The announcement was made during a meeting at Chakdara, where local QWP leaders, former UC nazims and traders were in attendance.
Noted among participants were Lateefur Rehman, brother of provincial minister Bakht Baidar Khan, Badshah Hussain, Sultan Room, Abdul Wadood, Umar Bacha and Khawaja Faizul Ghafoor.
They said the government wanted to supply gas to Timergara while leaving Adenzai without the facility and that was unacceptable to them.
MISSING STUDENTS: Three students, two from Ketiari and one from Ramora area in Chakdara, have been missing mysteriously for 10 days, residents of the area said on Saturday.
They said Rizwan of 7th grade and Mohammad Nabi of 6th grade of the Government High School, Khanpur, and Mohammad Jawad, a student of a local seminary, had been missing.
The residents said father of Mohammad Nabi had announced Rs5,000 for anyone giving information about the whereabouts of his missing son.
They said demanded early recovery of the missing students.
MAN KILLED: An Afghan refugee identified as Mujeeb was stabbed him to death in Chakdara on Saturday.
Police said that the killer of Mujeed was also an Afghan national. He was identified as Abdul Rehman.
They said that the alleged killer managed to escape after committing the crime. Both the deceased and accused were relatives.
Police registered a case against the accused and began investigation.
