Speech, tableau competition mark Iqbal`s birth anniversary

RAWALPINDI, Nov 9: Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Saturday arranged a function to celebrate the birth anniversary of National Poet Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal.

A speech and tableau competition was organized among the students to highlight role and services of Allama Iqbal for Muslims of the Subcontinent and getting separate homeland.

The ceremony was witnessedby a large number of school children and general public.

A photographic exhibition based on Iqbal`s life and political struggle for Pakistan was also arranged to mark the day in a befitting manner and pay homage to the great poet who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.

MNA Raja Javed Akhlas, Senator Razina Alam and Resident Director of RAC WaqarAhmed were the guests of honour.

In speech competition, Mohmaad Umer of Roots School System bagged first position, Umm-i-Rubab from Station School secured second while Komal Imtiaz from Aims got third.

Similarly, in tableau which was based on poetry of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Khalid Boys Model School remained first;Station got second, Dar-e-Argam secured third position.

In Kalam-e-Iqbal individual category, Ahmed Shah from Roots School secured first, Midhat Mahboob got second and Adeela Akhtar City English School remained third while in Kalam-e-Iqbal group category, City English School secured first, Khalid Boys Schools got second and Station School remained third.
