LAHORE: A delegation of students and teachers from the alma mater of Allama Iqbal, Government College University (GCU), on Monday visited his mausoleum to pay homage on his birth anniversary.

According to a press release, the delegation, led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, offered fateha and laid a floral wreath. The vice chancellor also recorded his views in the visitors` book.

Later, Iqbal Day Poetry Competition was held at the GCU Allama Iqbal Hostel.

The vice chancellor said it was a matter of great pride and inspiration for all Ravians that Allama Iqbal had been a student of the institution.
