NEW DELHI: Sardar Patel, Deputy Prime Minister of India, in a statement in the Constituent Assembly (Legislative) on the high-level discussions between India and Pakistan, announced that complete agreement had been reached on all outstanding issues relating to partition, including those affecting the armed forces.

The discussions were conducted in a spirit of friendliness and goodwill, he said. No reference will now be made to the Arbitration Tribunal and those already made will now be withdrawn.

He added that the question of Kashmir was not before the Partition Committee ... . He expressed the view that all issues should be settled, including that of Kashmir, as far as possible simultaneously.
