Six checkpoints to control fertiliser smuggling

BAHAWALPUR: To prevent the smuggling of fertiliser out of the Bahawalpur division, the divisional administration has announced the establishment of six checkpoints along the Punjab-Sindh border areas.
Fertiliser vehicles will be checked constantly at the points that have been set up in Kote Sabzal, Daowala, Iqbalabad, Zahirpir, Tarinda Muhammad Panah, and Jindoo Pir.
At a meeting, Commissioner Raja Jahangir directed that a urea bag should be sold at Rs2,200 and the violators should be prosecuted.
Agriculture (extension) Director Jamshed Khalid Sindhu said 1,700 bags of fertilizers were seized and the hoarders were booked. The meeting reviewed the fertilizers supply to farmers in the dvision. Through a video link, the deputy commissioners of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan as well as representatives from the agriculture department took part.
HELD: In a human trafficking case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Mahboob Rashid.
According to FIA officials, the suspect took money from several people under the guise of shipping them off to abroad. He later disappeared, and the FIA declared him a proclaimed offender.
According to FIA authorities, some aggrieved individuals have contacted them to seek compensation. Every complaint would be investigated, according to officials.
