NLC removing block factory from E-11: CDA

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that the National Logistic Cell (NLC) has started removing illegal block f actory from E-11.

CDA`s counsel Hafiz Araf at Ahmed during the hearing of relocation of illegal slum in the area told IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah that the civic agency had put the NLC on notice and the latter had closed down the factory.

He said that the construction material and the machinery were being removed from the factory site in E-11.

The court also directed the CDA to submit a report over issuance of no objection certificate (NOC) for establishing the factory on the state land. Arafat told the court that CDA did not issue any NOC. The court inquired from the CDA about the actions taken to provide shelter to marginalised segments of the society.

The court issued direction to CDA not to remove the inhabitants of E-11 slum until winter season is over.

Justice Minallah directed the CDA chairman to appear in person to apprise the court about the schemes as envisaged in Islamabad`s master plan and adjourned hearing till Tuesday (today). Malik Asad
