KARACHl: The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) has urged the government to expedite the process of finalising rules of business for early and effective implementation of the Sindh Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, 2013.
NCSW chairperson Khawar Mumtaz on Monday cited the long-awaited act as a crucial step in upholding the safety and dignity of survivors of domestic violence. She called for similar legislation in all the provinces with a framework to ensure effective implementation of the existing laws. Appreciative of the Sindh government for taking a lead to pass a law on domestic violence, she emphasised the need for an effective operational grievance redressal mechanism.-APP
