Naqvi reviews uplift work of Margalla Enclave housing scheme

ISLAMABAD: Ahead of the balloting of Margalla Enclave`s residential plots, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the new housing scheme a joint venture of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and reviewed the ongoing development work.
DHA is developing the said housing scheme on CDA`s 10,000 kanal land in the Kuri area of the federal capital. As per an agreement, the civic agency will get 55pc of developed plots while DHA will get 45pc.
The development work is in progress and DHA has sought applications from the public by February 14, 2025. The plots will be sold out through balloting.
According to a press release issued by the interior ministry, Mr Naqvi reviewed the ongoing development work during the said visit.
`It was decided during the minister`s visit that 50 per cent of the development work of Margalla Enclave would be completed by August14,2025,and100 percentby December 31 before handing over the possession of the plots to the owners.
The interior minister directed that the pace of development work should be accelerated and all resources should be utilised to complete the ongoing project.
He also ordered the construction of a new road to the Margalla Enclave and said that the travel time on the alternate route from the Prime Minister`s house should be not more than five minutes.
Moreover, he directed the immediate removal of encroachments on the road leading to the new housing society.
Minister highlighted that citizens have shown keen interest in the project due to its excellent location.
He added that apart from the prime location, citizens will be offered a modern living experience once the project sees the light of the day. A lake will also be built in the Margalla Enclave, as per the developers.
While briefing the minister on the project, the DHA project director said that the scheme was being developed on an area of 10,000 kanals. Plots measuring 5 to 10 marlas and 1 kanal would be available for investors.
The last date for the submission of applications is February 14, he said.
Moreover, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and the DHA project director gave a detailed briefing about the planning of various sectors.
It is relevant to note here that in 2008, CDA had exchanged its land with DHA and it was agreed that DHA would hand over 729 plots to CDA in exchange for the land.
Sources said for the smooth execution of the said joint venture, CDA got allotment letters for the pending plots from the DHA.
They added that the civic agency will start auctioning the said plot in the coming months.
