Three injured suspects arrested after `shoot-out`

OKARA: Police claimed to have arrested three injured robbery suspects on Monday night following a shootout, and shifted them to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital for treatment.

As per the FIR, a Saddar police patrol team headed by an inspector was informed that four armed robbers deprived one Shamsuddin of cash, mobile phone and motorcycle and werefleeing towards Sahiwal side of Okara bypass.

The police team chased the fleeing armed motorcyclists, who opened fire on the policemen. The police took cover and responding to the robbers` firing.

After some time, when the firing from the robbers` side stopped, police searched the area and found three of the criminals lying injured along the road to5/4Lunderpass.

The police shifted the injured suspects to the DHQ hospital where they were identified as Tanvir, a resident of 49/12 L village, Chichawatni, with a weapon and one live bullet, Jamil Ahmad of Jeewan City,Sahiwal with a weapon and two bullets and Zamir Ali of Haveli Lakkha.

The police also recovered looted belongings of Shamasuddin from the suspects.

The police claimed that one of the arrested suspects, Tanvir, had beenbookedin 40 cases of heinous crimes registered at various police stations of Sahiwal district.

During interrogation, the suspects claimed that their fleeing armed accomplice was Jafar, a resident of Sahiwal.

On the report of SHO Inspector Muhammad Riaz, Saddar police registered a case against the suspects under sec-tions 324, 353, 186 and 34 of the PPC, along with section 13-2(a) and 20 of The Arms Amended Ordinance 2015 and 1965, respectively.

PTI MNA BOOKED: Police have registered a case against PTI MNA Raza Ali Gillani, and 27 others, nine of them nominated, for taking out a rally against the government on Feb 8.

As per the first information report, registered on the report of Sub-Inspector Nasir Ali, a Hujra police team deployed near Awan Chowk found dozens of men carrying PTI flags, banners and flexes, led by MNA Syed Ali Raza Gillani, heading towards main road.They were chanting slogans against the government, besides demanding release of the party founder, Imran Khan, the FIR said.

The police intercepted the rally participants, warning them that they were violating Section 144 imposed by deputy commissioner, but they ignored the warning and kept on raising slogans.

The police later dispersed the rally, the FIR concluded.

The police have registered a case under section 88 of the PPC against MNA Raza Ali Gillani, Ghulam Dastgir, Ishtiaq, Muhammad Ahmad, Qurban, Bilal and Rai Ashraf, along with 20 unidentified protesters.
