Huner-i-Hawwa festival postponed

PESHAWAR: Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has postponed its three-day Huner-i-Hawwa mela which was scheduled to start from Friday(today) owing to the forecast of heavy rains over the weekend by the metrological department.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, TCKP managing director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said that the event was scheduled to be held from March 11 to 13, but the rain forecast forced the delay till next week.

He said there would be no change in the venue as the festival would now be held at the PIA Planetarium in Hayatabad from March 18 to 20. The Huner-i-Hawwa mela or artisans at work festival would be organised for the skilled women entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and products at the event and boost income of their families. Mr Khan said that the event was aimed at providing a platform and business opportunities to the skilled womenfolk of the province to encourage them to market their products in a befitting manner. The artisans` stalls would include handicrafts, embroidery, Taghar work, Bannu Royal Khaadi, stone carving, Peshawari caps, wax painting, metal work, wood carving, etc.-Bureau Report
