Sohail enjoys double success at KRC

KARACHI: Promising rider Sohail Ahmed stole the limelight by galloping home a brace of winners in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
He first partnered owner Kamran Khan Tessori`s favourite unknown pedigree bay colt Doctor to a splendid 12 lengths victory in the opener. He got the better of filly Jugni G for the honours. This was Doctor`s second success ofthe seasonin Sve outings.
Colt Bugash Bugash was placed third fourand-a-half lengths away while chestnut horse Fair Play completed the frame threequarter-of-a-length behind.
Sohail completed the feat by guiding another unknown pedigree bay horse Captaan from the front to a facile five-length victory over bay horse Aslan in the third race after finishing off the frame in lastthree runs.
Earlier, Aslan was opened 40 to 100 favourite but later the rates of Captaan surged. Tejori was placed third followed by Andaaz as the field was reduced to five following the withdrawal of Kishmish.
Second favourite unknown pedigree bay filly Rainbow made it three victories on the trot, lowering the colours of public fancy colt Place Your Bets by four-and-a-half lengths to pick up spoils in the second race.
King`s Hand and Phatyal followed the two in same order.
Four-year-old bay colt King`s Man prevailed over co-favourite colt King Of Clifton by eight lengths to land the fourth race which was also day`s feature event.
The triumph of King`s Man enabled owner Tessori to complete the double so did trainer Mazhar.-Anwar Zuberi
