Opposition says Karak nazim has lost majority in council

2017-04-11
KARAK: The councillors of the Pakistan Tehreelei-Insaf and other opposition parties on Monday claimed the nazim had lost majority in the district council and therefore, he was blocking their requisition for the house`s sitting to hold voting on a no-confidence motion against him.

They also insisted that in an illegal act, nazim Umar Daraz used the district government`s funds without their approval by the council.

Azmat Khattak and Sikandar Azam of the PTI and Shah Zaman of the JUI-told reporters here that their and other opposition parties recently filed a requisition for the convening of the council session but the nazim was sitting on it fearing the no-confidence motion against him. T hey claime d the nazim had lost a simple majority in the house.

The councillors flayed the nazim for not calling the council`s session during the last four months.

They said the council hadn`t passed the district`s annual development programme council but the nazim had illegally floated tenders for development projects.

The councillors said the nazim bypassed the house while handling the affairs of the district government, an act, which went against the spirit of the local government rules of business.

They demanded the equal distribution of the district ADP funds to the elected members of 21 union councils of the district. The councillors warned they would move the court for relief if the nazim didn`t get the ADP approved by the council and distribute funds to council members fairly.
