Nine Lesco men booked for `theft, illegal confinement`

KASUR: Allahabad police on Thursday booked nine officials of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) on charges of theft and illegal confinement.

According to complainant, Advocate Ahtesham Elahi, Lesco officials, including Mudasar Sahar and Abdul Jabar, along with seven unidentified employees came to his residence in an official vehicle.

He said the suspects removed his electricity meter, which is property of the consumer under the law, and bundled him into the official vehicle.

The suspects, he said, later dropped him about two kilometers away from his house.

On his complaint, Allahabad police registered a case against the Lesco officials under sections 379 (theft) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Pakistan Penal Code, without any arrest so far.

Police are looking into the matter.

LPG BLAST: Three youths, who sufferedsevere burns on Wednesday night in a cylinder blast at an LPG decanting shop, were referred to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, on Thursday, due to their serious condition.

As per Rescue 1122 officials, the roof of the shop caved in due to the intensity of the blast that rocked the area.

Following the explosion, a large number of people gathered at the scene, some of them taking it for a bomb blast.

They say the blast occurred when the shop owner, Zubair, was refilling LPG in a cylinder, which exploded with a bang.

As a result, Zubair and two customers, identified as Shahzad, 22, and Zahid, 15, suffered serious burns.

Rescue 1122 staff rushed the injured to the local THQ hospital, where doctors referred them to Jinnah Hospital in a critical condition.

Police are looking into the matter. Correspondent
