LG employees without salary for months

SWABI: Local Government Employees Federation (LGEF) leaders here the other day blasted the government for its failure to pay salary to the employees for last several months, pushing them into dire financial straits.

They were speaking at a meeting held here on Wednesday with LGEF provincial president Haji Anwar Kamal Khan in the chair.

Through a unanimously adopted resolution, the participants demanded that the government should take steps for ensuring payment of salary to employees on time.

Federation`s patron-in-chief Shaukat Ali Kayani, senior vicepresident Haji Niaz Ali Khan, provincial chairman Shaukat AliAnjum, finance secretary Mehboobullah and general secretary Salman Hoti were also present.

On the occasion, Mr Kamal said that two-year term of LGEF office holders had ended on March 18, but elections could not be held due to the fasting month.

He said elections would be held as soon as possible for picking the office-bearers for next two years.

Mr Kayani also called for holding the federation`s elections as soon as possible.

Mr Anjum, after listening to suggestions of participants, decided that elections will be held on April 26 at tehsil municipal administration office for picking the provincial officials and presidents of all thedistricts.

The participants constituted an election committee.

TWO KILLED: A man and his nephew, belonging to Yaqoubi village, were shot dead by their rivals in front of Yar Hussain tobacco purchasing centre when they were on way home here the other day, the police said.

Officials at Chota Lahor city police station said that the deceased were identified as Jamadar Khan and his nephew, Abdul Ahmad.

The cause of the incident was stated to e an old enmity.

The police have registered an FIR against the accused, Aurangzeb and his brother, Anwarzeb, and started an investigation. Correspondent
