SUKKUR: The Wapda Hydro Electric Union (CBA) took out a protest rally and held a sit-in in Jacohabad on Thursday against registration of a case against its leaders.
A leader of the rival Paigham union, Tahir Abro, lodged the case against the CBA`s president Mehboob Lashari, general secretary Babu Hanif Lashari and others, alleging that they subjected him to torture.
The CBA leaders led a protest rally taken out from the main Sepco (Sukkur Electric Supply Company) office in Jacobabad to the local press club, where the participants held a sit-in.
The protesters demanded quashment of the FIR and claimed that no such incident had taken place. Their leaders said that Paigham leaders were trying to `blackmail` them by implicating them in the fake case.
Meanwhile, the Jacobabad district and sessions court on Thursday granted interim bail to Mehboob Lashari, Babu Hanif Lashari and others in a sum of Rs50,000 each in the case.
