KHAR: People of Bajaur on Friday held a rally against the district administration`s failure to trace the killers of a polio worker despite passage of six days.

People from different walk of life, including youths, political and social activists and students, attended the demonstration held outside the Bajaur Press Club.

The protesters holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans to provide justice to the slain polio worker, Abdullah Jan`s family, chanted slogans against the administration and the police department for not arresting the killers despite passage of six days.

PTI senior leader Anwarzeb Khan, ANP leader Sayed Sadiq Akbar, PML-N leader Khalid Khan, Insaf Students Federation leader Obaidur Rehman, Asadullah Khan, social activists Anwar Nigar, Maualna Khan Zeb and others addressed the rally.

They pointed out that Abdullah Jan, associated with WHO as union council polio officer, was killed by unknownpersons on Saturday last when he was on way to his home on a motorcycle.

However, they said the administration was yet to register FIR against the killers.

FILENOMINATIONPAPERS: The aspiring candidates on Friday started filing their nomi-nation papers with the returning officer for contesting the firstever provincial assembly elections in Bajaur tribal district.

An official of the Election Commission of Pakistan told Dawn that the candidates had started submitting their nomination papers to contest the elec-tions scheduled to be held on July 2.

He said at least 30 candidates, most of them independents, submitted their nomination papers for three seats, PK-100, PK-101 and PK-102, with returning of ficer on Friday. He said the process would continue till May 13.

The ECP official said only one woman was among the 64 candidates having obtained the nomination papers.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Usman Mehsud, who is the district returning of ficer, administered oath to returning ofhcer, Fazal-i-Hakeem Khan, at a ceremony.

On the occasion, the DC said holding of free, fair and transparent elections was his priority.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-iIslam-F named its nominees for the provincial assembly polls, including JUI-F Bajaur chief Maulana Abdur Rasheed, Ahmed Zeb Khan Advocate and Maulana Sultan Mohammad.

Party spokesman Mujahid Khan told reporters that the nominations were made on the recommendations of the party`s parliamentary committee a few days ago.
