Early reconstruction of Dir school ordered

LOWER DIR: Deputy commissioner Wasil Khan on Friday directed the officials concerned to arrange a makeshift building within a week for conducting classes till the building of government higher secondary school, Rabat, was reconstructed.
He issued the orders during a visit to the school.
Parents have been complaining about a lack of building for students, forcing them to attend to classes in the open.
School principal Mohammad Abbas Khan informed the DC that the dilapidated building comprising 12 classrooms was demolished in January last year for reconstruction. He said over 900 students were enrolled in the school.
He said students had been divided in two shifts with those coming from far off areas adjusted in the morning and those living in the surrounding areas in the evening shift.
District education officer Mahboob Ilahi, the executive engineer communication and works department, newly-elected Balambat tehsil chairman Shakir Shuaib and others accompa-nied the DC.
The C&W executive engineer said according to the PC-I, the project was to be completed within three years at a cost of Rs67 million. He said lack of funds delayed the project.
DC Wasil Khan directed that the rented building should be equipped with all facilities necessary for teaching and learning process. He also directed the communication and works department to expedite reconstruction work on the school.
The DC promised to write a letter to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for early release of funds for the project.
Later, the DC also visited a government primary school in Asigay area of Rabat, wherein he was informed that due to overcrowded classes, three classes were being conducted in tents.
He was informed that over 400 students were enrolled in the school.
The DC directed the DEO and C&W department to prepare a feasibility report for constructing additional classrooms in the school. Correspondent
