PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed to link the worship places of minorities with a network of close-circuit cameras to provide them foolproof security.
He also directed to chalk out a comprehensive plan for provision of security to minorities living in the province.
He was talking to a delegation of the Sikh community, which called on him at CM Secretariat on Tuesday. Advisor to chief minister on minorities` affairs, Sardar Suran Singh led the delegation.
The chief minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would make no compromise on the protection of the lives and properties of the people, including the minorities.
On the occasion, the delegation thanked the chief minister for provision of funds for minorities` welfare-oriented schemes like children scholarships, computers for students, provision of water pumps for areas inhabited by minorities and funds for Gurdwaras and Besakhi festival. The delegation, however, expressed annoyance over the federal government`s alleged silence over ordeal of the minority community in tribal area, including Orakzai Agency.
The chief minister directed the Peshawar CCPO to take effective measures for protection of minority traders in the city. He also directed activation of the district level minority welfare committees in that regard.
It was decided that the Sikh community would provide four youth for each Gurdwara in the province so they could be imparted proper training to secure the worship places.
