WORLD Environment Day was celebrated on June 5 throughout the world, but my focus is on the poor people of Jhudo.
There are at least a dozen sugar mills in Jhudo which are responsible for spreading environmental pollution through emitting smoke from their chimneys and letting toxic waste flow into the Puran canal from where it flows into the Lef t Bank Outf all Drain (LBOD). The LBOD too is responsible for destroying the environment.
I request the provincial government and the authorities concerned to take strict action against the mill owners responsible for this. Besides, the government and mill owners should initiate development projects on health and hygiene so that the poor could be able to cope with the environment.
Philanthropists and volunteers should come forward to educate the poor.
