25 shopkeepers booked for overcharging

TAXILA: The local administration has booked 25 shopkeepers on charges of fleecing people in various bazaars and markets of Taxila and Wah Cantonment.

They were selling milk, vegetables, pulses, chicken and other items more than the officially fixed price. Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Assistant Commissioner Waqas Marth has said that the shopkeepers would not be allowed to fleece the people.

He said officials of the local administration were monitoring the prices of kitchen items, especially fruits and vegetables.

He said relief would be provided to the people and profiteering and overcharging would be checked.

Mr Marth shopkeepers and venders had been asked not to expose edibles to dust, display price list at a visible place.

But the shopkeepers ignore the directives and are fleecing people, he claimed. Correspondent
