KOHAT: District naib nazim Abdur Rasheed has urged the chief minister to appoint district nazim in Kohat at the earliest because after de-seating of JUI-F`s Maulana Niaz Mohammad he (naib nazim) could not call the session.
He said that since February last only two sessions of the house could be held because the nazim feared tabling of a no-confidence move against him following eruption of forward blocks within the coalition of PTI and JUI-F and as such a lot of work was pending.
Mr Rasheed said that after suspension of the district nazim by the Peshawar High Court the case would now either go to the election commission or could be challenged in the Supreme Court. He elaborated that if it was referred to the election commission new elections would be held to the nazim post.
Tall(ing to this scribe on Saturday, the naib nazim stated that the house proceedings would remain dormant in the absence of the nazim. He said that in the old system the naib nazim was authorised to act as district nazim which had been altered in the new act.
