Several schools in Bajaur without shelters

KHAR: Several state-run schools in remote areas of Bajaur Agency are functioning without shelters and basic facilities, forcing students to sit in the open no dusty mats in extreme weather conditions.
Local residents told this correspondent that the schools were short of furniture, staff and, in some cases, shelters.
They said the government primary school, Pashat in Salarzal tehsil, the native town of PML-N lawmaker Shahabuddin Khan, is among the schools having no shelter.
The school was destroyed by militants in 2007, but it could not be rebuilt, as a result students get education sitting in the open.
The lone teacher, who wished not to be named, told this correspondent that more than 400 students were enrolled in the four-room school.
Tariq Khan, a grade four student, said they were facing problems while sitting in the open in the hot weather, adding alarge number of students would quit school for lack of shelter.
The teacher flayed the local administration, education department and the PML-N lawmaker for not taking steps to provide shelter to the school.
SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead in Salarzai area, local administration officials said.
They said the incident occurred in Naroobo locality on Friday evening.
According to them, Abdur Shakoor was on way to his home from a nearby place when an armed man opened fire on him.
He was critically wounded in the firing and died while being shifted to a nearby hospital.
The officials claimed that a Levies party immediately reached the site and arrested the attacker while trying to escape from the scene.
The attacker was later shifted to the Khar prison for further interrogation.
Political tehsildar Salarzai Saz Mohammad Khan told reporters that the incident was result of a personal enmity.
