150,000kg ghee seized from warehouse

CHINIOT: Assistant Commissioner Bilal Bin Hafeez raided a warehouses at the vegetable market on the report of the Special Branch and seized 150,000 kilo ghee.

The administration has managed to keep the prices of most of the vegetables under Rs100 per kg and of fruits under Rs150 by strict vigilance and supervising the auction process in the markets.

Revenue officers, including ACs, daily visit markets and inspect the auction process.

The Chiniot administration has established urea fertiliser sale points in every union council where farmers can get fertiliser bags at official rates.

All the fertiliser inflows in the district are not only being monitored but also seller and recipient of each bag is documented.

The revenue staff is documenting the fertiliser sales. The price control committee meeting is being convened on a daily basis even on Sundays in which the trader bodies and other stakeholders are also heard.

Cheap flour sale points have been set up in various parts of the city where flour bags are available at subsidised prices.

The prices of chicken have also been curtailed, however, the administration has not yet succeeded to implement the prices of beef and mutton which is being sold at the rate of Rs700 and Rs1,400 instead of fixed rate of Rs350 and Rs750.

Syed Noorul Hassan Shah, Jamaat-i-Islami leader, appreciated the steps taken by the administration for providing relief to farmers on fertiliser availability and demanded that steps be taken for payment of dues payable to growers by sugar mills.
