SAHIWAL: A seminary student who attempted to cross the Lower Bari Doab Canal (LBDC) on Friday after a bet is feared drowned.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, Usman (15), a resident of Havili Lakha, Okara district, studied in a seminary near Wapda Town.

On Friday, he went to the LBDC to swim along with some fellow seminary students, where one of them challenged Usman, placing a bet, toswim across the canal.

Accepting the challenge, Usman jumped into the canal,butgottrapped in deep water and disappeared.

On being caHed by other students, a team of Rescue 1122 divers reached the spot and launched an operadon in the canal to find the boy.

However, the boy could not be found and the search operation had to postponed till Saturday (today). Correspondent
