PTI will surprise rivals in upcoming elections, says Khattak

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said here on Monday that investigation into Panama Papers case was the most important chapter of the political history of the country.

Addressing a ceremony at Chief Minister`s House, he said that the verdict of joint investigation team against corrupt people would result into corruption-free Pakistan.

On the occasion, Irfanullah Shah, a leader of Jamiat Ulema-iIslam-Fazl announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. Mr Shah was candidate of JUI-F for PK-1Peshawar constituency in the last polls.

Mr Khattak said that a large number of people from other parties were joining PTI. He said that in the past when other parties were in the last year of their rule, workers were leaving them in droves to join other parties. He said that PTI was finding it difficult to adjust all the newcomers.

The chief minister said that PTI would surprise its political rivals in the upcoming general elections. He said that performance of PTI during the last four years rule was before everybody and people were satisfied with the change.

He said that the PTI government curbed malpractices of selling jobs and receiving 1(icl(backs from the contractors. He said that PTI government brought huge changes in education, health and police departments.

Mr Khattak alleged that detractors of PTI had nothing to do withmerit, reforms and institution building and their only aim was to make money from politics. `To know about our performance, one must go to ask general public,` he added.

The chief minister said that investigation into Panama Papers case was the most important chap-ter of country`s political history. He said that Imran Khan stood for accountability of corrupt. He said that JIT verdict against corrupt would usher into corruption-free Pakistan.

He said that those people, who were criticising Billion Tree Tsunami drive, could go to any place of their choice among the 4,000 plantation sites to see results of the campaign for themselves. He said that in the past, trees were cut in the name of wind fallen trees but the PTI government curbed that practice.

Mr Khattak said that PTI government also took crucial steps in education sector as well, however the results would come to the fore in the next about six to eight years.

Responding to allegations of Amir Muqam, Mr Khattak said that Imran Khan did not recommend any contract to any individual in the province but PML-N was asking federal government for con-tracts of development projects in conflict of interests.

`This gentleman must not boast much higher than his own stature and also must see into his spot-full past,` he added.

The chief minister said that performance of provincial government was crystal clear. Even the facts and figures in surveys of 2013-14 and 2015-16 released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics revealed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa excelled in the efforts for alleviation of poverty and increase in employment prospects, he said.

Mr Khattak said that poverty ratio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was 23.86 per cent in 2013-14 that came down to 12.27 per cent in 2015-16.

Contrary to this fact, he said, the graph of poverty shot up in Punjab and Sindh.

He said that even other national and international organisations acknowledged the outstanding performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
