By Faiza llyas 2024-07-11
KARACHI: Harsh humid conditions, aggravated by the disruption of the sea breeze, prevailed almost the whole day on Wednesday in the city, following a brief respite brought by monsoon showers a day earlier.According to the Met department`s data, 82 per cent humidity was recorded at 8am that dropped to 79pc at 5pm.

The maximum temperature was 36.6 degrees Celsius with 63pc humidity, bringing the feels-like temperature to 52°C in the afternoon, a Met official said.

The minimum temperature recorded was 27°C.

`High humidity levels in the monsoon season are not unusual. This happens due to the penetration of moist currents,` explained Chief Meteorologist Dr Sardar Sarfaraz.

He said that humid weather conditions were experienced across the country during the monsoon season. The influence of low pressure area`s remnants aggravated the harsh affect of humid conditions on Wednesday, he added.

`The system has moved westward.

Weather conditions in the coming two days are likely to be partly cloudy and windy in Karachi with restoration of the sea breeze, though there are no significant chances of rain for at least eight to 10 days,` he said.

Dr Sarfaraz said that drizzle/light rain might occur in the evening or night.

The maximum temperature is expected to range between 34-36°C on Thursday (today).

Humidity in the morning and evening is expected to range between 70-80pc and 55-65pc, respectively.
