GILGIT: An anti-terrorism court on Monday sentenced a proclaimed offender to death for murdering a Shia leader and his four bodyguards.

Gilgit ATC judge Raja Shabaz Khan pronounced the decision after completion of the hearing into the case.

He ruled that the prosecution had proved the case against the accused, Shakirullah alias doctor, who murdered Agha Ziauddin Rizvi, Imam Jumma Wal Jamaat Markazi Imamia Masjid Gilgit, and his four body-guards in Ampahry area of Gilgit on January 8, 2015.

The Shia leader`s bodyguards included Tanvir Ali, Hussain Akbar, Iqbal Hussain and Abbas Ali.

The court also sentenced to ten years rigorous imprisonment the proclaimed offender for murderous assault on two persons, Mohammed Iqbal and Shiekh Ameer Hayat.

Shakirullah is a resident of Charsadda district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Correspondent
