One killed, two injured as wire falls on Rescue truck

LAHORE: A Rescue 1122 fire truck driver died and two rescuers were injured after receiving an electric shock when a high voltage wire fell on the vehicle in Iqbal Town on Wednesday.
Rescue 1122 received a fire emergency call from Rachna Town residents and a three-member team was dispatched.
The team was on its way on a truck when a high voltage wire fell on the vehicle in Raza Block of Iqbal Town after disconnecting from a nearby panel due to heavy rain.
The rescuers jumped from the vehicle to save their lives because itcaught Ere due to electric shock.
The rescuers and driver suffered injuries and fell unconscious.
Another rescue team disconnected the wire from the pole and took the injured to Shaikh Zayed Hospital where the driver could not survive and the rescuers were said to be stable.
The victims were identified as Mudassar, driver, Shahzad Jabbar and Hammad Raza, fire fighters.
Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Arshad Zia visited the hospital and directed the authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured. He said Mudassar sacrificed his life in the line of duty and Rescue 1122 would provide financial and moral support to his family.
He said the emergency service would also provide job to one of his heirs as per the government policy.-Reporter
