Girls schools in Dir to get female clerical staff

TIMERGARA: Government girls schools in Lower Dir would soon get their own female junior clerks, stenographers, computer operators and lab assistants.

Sources in the district education office said here on Wednesday that a screening test had been conducted for appointment of female junior clerks, stenographers and computer operators in the government girls schools through the National Testing Agency (NTS) and now the Lower Dir education department had called the successful candidates for interviews to be held on Aug 17.

The teachers and residents of Lower Dir have welcomed the move of the education department.

Meanwhile, Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) here on Tuesday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to increase seats in all disciplines at the government postgraduate college, Timergara, so the students could have an opportunity to continue their education.

Talking to mediapersons here, Timergara IJT nazim Sultan Zeb and Timergara college nazim Fazal Subhansaid that hundreds of students seeking admission in first year classes were being deprived of the opportunity because the college had limited seats.

They claimed the college was built in 1969, but the seats for students both in science and humanities had not been increased since then. They also demanded of the government to set up another degree college in Timergara so that poor students could get education in their own town.

RALLY HELD: Students of the Government Degree College, Gulabad, staged a protest rally against the alleged violence of elite force on students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Sheringal. The rally was led by IJT Adenzai nazim Kaleemullah and Insaf Student Federation president Abdullah Nawaz.

Speaking on the occasion, they said the students had come on roads to protest against the varsity administration for lack of facilities in the hostel. They said that the violence was unjustified and a manifestation of the varsity administration`s failure to solve their problems.

They demanded of Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra to order opening of the varsity and inquiry into the incident.
