GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan government decided to take disciplinary action against total 4,495 government employees from scale 1 to scale 19 for receiving monetary benefits from Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) illegally. It has also decided to recover the due amount from the salaries of these employees.

BISP Islamabad recently identified 165,820, scale 1 to scale 19 government employees including significant number of employees from GB for taking monetary benefits from BISP. They were removed from the list of beneficiariesunderthe data cleaningexercise with the support of National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra).

According to a press release, an important meeting was held on Wednesday, chaired by GB Chief Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani in Gilgit. The meeting was attended by GB Secretary Finance, Secretary Services and GB Accountant General. The meeting discussed action for the recovery of amount from illegal beneficiaries and departmental disciplinary action against government employees.

GB Secretary Services told the meeting that a total of 4495 governmentemployees of Gilgit-Balistan have been benefiting illegally from BISP monthly stipends. He informed that the list of the employees have been forwarded to the concerned Head of Department for departmental action.

A summary has been prepared and sent to the Chief Minister`s office to take action against the employees of Scale 19 who were identified as illegal beneficiaries from BISP stipends.The head of departments have been ordered to deduct 1/3 of the monthly total salary of their respective employees every month.

The head of departments have been ordered to prepare Change Form of the employees and submit it in Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) Gilgit office or in respective district account office so that the deducted amount from salaries of employees are deposited in government exchequer.

Moreover the meeting also decided to take departmental disciplinary action against those pensioners who have illegally benefited from BISP stipends. GB Chief Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani directed departmental disciplinary action against all these employees and said that departmental disciplinary action should be taken against them according to laws and ensure recovery amount from all the employees.
