LAHORE, Sept 10: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has said corrupt and dishonest elements are real enemies of the country and citizens will have to play their role in pinpointing them at individual as well as collective level.
He was speaking at a ceremony held here on Tuesday to distribute cheques among those affected by various financial scams. It was organised by the National Accountability Bureau, Punjab.
The governor said the NAB enjoyed full backing by the government in rooting out corruption and loot.
He said the establishment of a corruption-free society was a part of the Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz manifesto and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was taking measures in this regard.
He said there was no legal business in the world which could double the capital in just a few days and the people instead of investing in these fraudulent schemes should inform police about the culprits.
The governor appreciated the NAB for detecting and recovering the looted money from the corrupt mafia and assured his full support to make the country corruption free.
He distributed Rs101 million among those affected by Double Shah, Trade Station Security, Rauf International and Aglam Global Links scams.
He also gave away cheques to Lesco, Gepco, Fesco and Mepco representatives, for recovering due amounts from electricity bills defaulters.
Earlier, NAB Punjab Director General Husnain Ahmed said an amount of about Rs2.5 billion had been recovered from 24,760 defaulters of various power distribution companies.
