Seat adjustment with JUI-F still possible: PPP

By Our Correspondent 2015-09-11
LARKANA: Sindh`s Senior Minister for Education and Information Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that ending electoral alliance with the PPP in Sindh was the choice of the Jamiat Ulema-i-IslamFazl (JUI-F).

Talking to Dawn at his Larkana residence on Thursday, he said the two parties could not agree at theprovince-wide alliance for the forthcoming local government elections in Sindh.

He, however, did not rule out the possibility of striking a deal with the JUI-F for local seat adjustments in the LG polls. He traced the history of the JUI-PPP closeness in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and centre.

Answering a question about the Larkana Awami Ittehad (LAI) led by former Sindh chief ministerMumtaz Ali Bhutto, Mr Khuhro claimed the PPP would sweep the polls as it enjoyed public support.

The importance of Mumtaz Bhutto could be assessed from the fact that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif who recently convened a meeting of the PML-N office-bearers from Sindh, did not invite him, he said.

`We don`t consider that alliance as challenge to the PPP in LG polls, he added.Commenting on an end to the politics of `reconciliation` from the PPP, he asked what was bad in doing reconciliation policy.

He did not agree with the notion that by adopting `reconciliation` policy for five years, the party structure was affected.

He said the party was still there and `we are actively going to participate in the forthcoming LG polls.

We will not only field candidates on all seats, but also sweep elections`
