KASUR: Police sealed a banquet hall at Pattoki as more than 50 wedding guests fell sick and were hospitalised after they had the meal served to them on Sunday.

According to police, Habib Ahmed had hosted a reception at the Chaudhry Marriage Hall, Multan Road, Pattoki, on the occasion of wedding of her two daughters.

After the arrival of the Baraats (wedding procession) at the hall, the meal was served. However, soon after the feast the guests started vomiting and complaining of pain in the stomach. As many as 50 sick guests, including women and children were immediately shifted to the Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where they were provided treatment. They are said to be stable now. The police concerned arrived on the spot and took the samples of the food served to the guests and sealed the banquet hall.

The police said that the samples had been sent to food lab for analysis and any action against the management and owners of the banquet hall would be taken in the light of the lab report.
