NAROWAL: The X-ray generator at the Narowal District Headquarters Hospital has been out of order for the last one month forcing the patients to get X-rayed from private laboratories.
Sources say several patients who have no money have to get X-rayed from private units are to go back without treatment from the hospital.
Also, private labs are on the other side of the road, and it becomes an ordeal for the patients to go there for X-ray examinations. The patients who are too weak to walk are taken to private labs in wheelchair or on a stretcher.
Not only outpatient department visitors, those admitted to the hospital are being X-rayed at private labs. One such patient Abdul Ghafoor said he was feeling pain in his leg f ractured in an accident.
`The doctor advised me X-ray, and when I was out of hospital in a wheelchair I thought I would meet another accident due to heavy traf fic on the road,` he said.
Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Younus said, `The X-ray generator is not out of order, rather there is a shortage of films, and we are trying to arrange them.
Deputy Commissioner Zeeshan Javaid said he sought a report from the chief executive of ficer of the District Health Authority and the medical superintendent into the issue.
Patients demanded that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar look into the matter and solve the problem.
