SIALKOT: The decade-old bridge over the Upper Chenab Canal at Bambaanwala-Daska has been posing serious threats for commuters for years, and it needs the attention of the irrigation department.
The bridge is used by the residents of hundreds of the villages across the canal. The bridge has been declared dangerous several years ago, but the department has yet to repair it.
There are holes in the floor of the bridge, while its pillars are crumbling.
Irrigation officials said they sent several proposals and reminders to their senior of ficials but no action was taken.
Local people belonging to the dozens of the surrounding villages of Daska tehsil have expressed grave concern over the critical situation of the bridge.
They demanded that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar look into the matter in the larger public interest.
