Enmity claims four lives in Swabi

SWABI, Oct 10: Three members of a family and another man were killed and a girl injured when their rivals allegedly opened fire on a car they were traveling in here on Thursday.

According to police, Miskeen, mother Khuareshan Bibi, son Adnan Khan, daughter Naseem Begum and friend Sabit Shah alias Babu were going in a car to Dagai Totali village in Buner district when they came under fire near the Pehur High Level Canal.

As a result, Miskeen, Khuareshan Bibi and Sabit died instantly, while Adnan and Naseem Begum suffered injures.

The injured were shifted to the hospital, where Adnan died afterwards. The injured girl was later shifted to Peshawar over critical condition.

Police registered a case against Yasir Khan, Said Moeen and Khalid Khan for firing.

However, no one was arrested until night.

The enmity between the two families has already claimed five lives.

Also in the day, a proclaimed offender was killed in an encounter with police in Kalu Khan mountainous area here.

District Police Officer Sajjad Khan told reporters here that police raided Kalu Khan mountainous area on a tip-off about the presence of some proclaimed offenders and their associates there.

He said the area fell in the jurisdiction of the Kalu Khan police station.

The DPO said seeing police, the criminals opened fire on them while trying to flee under the cover of firing to the nearby mountains and fields.

Police retaliated with full vigour and chased the culprits.

The encounter continued for quite some time resulting in the death of Fawad Khan, a resident of Kalu Khan area.

However, his associates escaped.

Police wanted Fawad for murder and other crimes.

Meanwhile, Swabi police have yet to identify two robbers, who were killed in an encounter.

The robbers were buried by the Tehsil Municipal Administration staff in a local graveyard on Thursday.

Two of the six robbers were killed by police after they looted Rs1.4 million from a private bank in Panjpir area on Wednesday.

Police officials said efforts were on to identify the dead robbers but so far, they were unidentified.

They, however, said it appeared that robbers were from the district.
