LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) vice chancellor (VC) from taking punitive action against a female lecturer.
Dr Naima Nawaz, a lecturer in BPS-18, filed a petitioncontendingthatthe vice chancellor unlawfully ordered departmental action against her.
She pleaded that the vice chancellor had no jurisdiction to take such action in the presence of a syndicate.
She asked the court to set aside the order issued by the respondent for being illegal.
Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan suspended the impugned action and sought replies from the university`s authorities by Dec 20.
