MUZAFFARGARH: Lobbying for Muzaffargarh district chairman slot has picked up as powerful clans are doing what they can to get ruling party`s nomination.

Almost all MNAs and MPAs are worried about the district chairmanship to have their say in local politics.

MNA Malik Sultan Hinjra claims the prime minister has promised PML-N ticket for his nephew, Malik Qasim Hinjra.

Hinjra who met the premier recently said Nawaz Sharif had gifted him a 500-bed hospital for his constituency (Kot Addu) which would be constructed at Taunsa Barrage.

But Makhdoom Abdullah Shah Bukhari, father of provincial minister Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari, is confident of getting the ruling party nod. He has held several meetings with local MPAs and independent union council chairmen for their support.

Sources say Bukhari has conveyed to the the PML-N leadership that, if ignored, his camp may join the PTI .

Bukharis knocked at the door of MNA Hamza Shahbazwhile Hinjra approached the prime minister house.

The PML-N had won a majority of UC chairmen seats whereas most of the independent UC chairmen were aligned to the Hinjras and Bukharis.

MPA Mian Alamdar Qureshi says his group under the chair of MNA Ashig Gopang had suggested to Hamza the names Mian Ghazanfar Abbas, Sardar Aon Dogar and Makhdoom Raza Bukhari for the slot. Nevertheless, he said, they would support the PML-N leadership decision.

MPA Malik Qaswer Abbas Langrial said this time the district chairman should be from Muzaffargarh tehsil because every time in the past the district head was picked from other tehsils. He said his brother Umer Khalid Langrial was fit for the job.

Punjab PML-N spokesperson Zaeem Qadri said he could not comment on Hinjra`s claim since he was not in picture at present.

Local MPA Hammad Tipu confirmed that Hinjra had met the PM.-MALIK TAHSEEN RAZA
