CHINIOT: A man allegedly poisoned the food at his inlaws after his father-in-law refused to send his estranged wife back with him. Two of the man`s children consumed the food and died on the spot.

Sarfraz, a resident of Muhammad Wala, went to the house of his father-in-law Muhammad Hanif and demanded his wife be sent back with him who had come to her parents` house after a quarrel between the couple. But Hanif refused to send his daughter with Sarfraz.

The suspect allegedly mixed poison in the family`s food in connivance with his two accomplices. As soon as they consumed the food, Sarfraz`s son Ali Shan, 12, and daughter Shabana, 14, died on the spot. Hanif and his 10-year-old son Ali Rizwan fainted and were rushed to DHQ hospital in critical condition.

On the application of Hanif`s brother, Muhammad Nawaz, the Muhammad Wala police registered a case under sections 302/34/337 J of PPC against the suspect and arrested him.

Nawaz stated that Sarfraz and Nazia had got married seven years ago and he would often allegedly torture her and had even threatened to kill the family if she refused to reconcile with him.
