Covid-19 positivity ratio continues to decline

ISLAMABAD: A total of 69 people got infected by coronavirus in Rawalpindi and Islamabad during the last 24 hours, with both districts recording a decline in positivity ratio.

The federal capital reported 55 cases and an infection rate of 1.4pc.

Replying to a question about Covid-19 cases, Dr Zia said around 3,000 samples were collected on Saturday out of which 55 were found positive. He was optimistic that the Covid-19 situation would remain under control as the federal capital had achieved all targets such as vaccinating people and enforcing standard operating procedures.

On the other hand, 14 people tested positive in Rawalpindi district while 30 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering on Sunday.

The positivity rate in Rawalpindi district fell from 2pc to 1.05pc in the last 24 hours. Samples of 1,340 people were collected out of whom results of 14 came back positive.

According to data, there are 404 active patients in Rawalpindi district out of whom 59 were in hospitals, including 27 from other districts.

As many as four patients arrived from the cantonment areas, six from city areas, three from Potohar Town while one patient came from Kahuta.

Out of the total patients admitted to hospitals, two are in Holy Family Hospital, 23 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 26 are under treatment in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) and eight patients are admitted to Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH).

Three patients were on ventilator, 24 required oxygen assistance and 32 were stable.-Staff Reporter
